02 Custom Shopify theme · one-page event site
Latin music festival · Austin, TX
A ticket-selling festival one-pager where the lineup, schedule and menus are edited as plain text — by people who do not write code.
AThe problem
A music festival needed a site that sells tickets and vendor booths, and that changes almost daily in the run-up — lineup, set times, stages, sponsors — updated by organizers, not developers.
BWhat we built
A custom Shopify one-pager with anchor navigation, where the schedule, lineup and submenus are authored as plain text and the site renders them. The brand does the rest of the work: the load screen, the mascot and the sponsor reveal are all part of the show.
CSignature pieces
The parts worth looking at.
- 01
Orbital preloader
A mascot pulses at the center while icons orbit around it — turning unavoidable load time into a branded moment instead of a spinner.
- 02
Peek-a-boo mascot
A character that leans in from the edges of the screen and watches the section you are reading, driven by a small state machine: idle → look → smile.
- 03
GSAP “bowl spill”
Sponsor logos tumble out of a bowl and settle into a tidy grid as you scroll past — the sponsor block people actually look at.
- 04
A schedule edited as plain text
Set times, lineup and submenus use a tiny plain-text language — `TIME | ACT | STAGE | TAG` — that color-codes itself automatically. Plus a live countdown, tiered ticketing, and vendor booth sales.
